Ontario Centre of Innovation funding supported the development and validation of the Aerial Intelligence Security System (AISS), commercially known as Skyguard, an Ontario-built autonomous drone security platform now available for construction sites.

TORONTO, ON, October 1, 2026. MOSTAVIO, an Ontario-based aerospace technology company focused on eVTOLs, announced that funding from the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) supported the development of Skyguard, the AI-powered autonomous drone security platform launched by its drone operations division, MOSTAVIO-SkyTech.

Also known as the Aerial Intelligence Security System (AISS), Skyguard combines autonomous drone operations, AI-powered computer vision, and real-time monitoring to provide construction companies with a new approach to site security and monitoring.

Construction sites are difficult environments to secure. Large footprints, changing layouts, multiple access points, valuable equipment, and reduced activity after working hours can leave sites exposed to theft, trespassing, vandalism, and other security risks.

Traditional fixed security systems can also face limitations in visibility and response. Skyguard is designed to extend site awareness beyond fixed camera positions by using autonomous drones that can patrol designated areas, respond to predefined events, and provide operators with live aerial intelligence.

When Skyguard detects an event requiring attention, the platform can deploy a drone to the area, use AI-powered detection to identify and track subjects, and provide operators with real-time information while the event is unfolding.

From development to commercial launch

Over the course of the six-month OCI-supported project, MOSTAVIO advanced Skyguard through technology validation and preparations for commercial deployment. That work supported the platform’s subsequent commercial launch.

As part of this progress, MOSTAVIO onboarded 6ixBuild, a Toronto-based construction and project management company delivering residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments, as Skyguard’s first client. The engagement marked an important milestone in validating industry interest and demonstrating the platform’s potential to address real-world security and monitoring needs within active construction environments.

The project built on MOSTAVIO’s expertise in autonomous aviation while addressing a practical challenge facing the construction industry: how to monitor large, constantly changing sites with greater speed, visibility, and operational awareness.

By combining autonomous drones, artificial intelligence, computer vision, and construction-site monitoring within a single platform, Skyguard provides an automated layer of aerial security designed to operate alongside a site’s existing security infrastructure.

“Ontario companies are developing technologies with the potential to address real industry challenges, and programs like CIT help connect innovators with the expertise, infrastructure, and real-world environments they need to move those technologies forward,” said Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO, Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).

“OCI’s support played an important role in Skyguard’s development,” said Nima Pourmostaghimi, CEO of MOSTAVIO. “It helped us complete the integrations, regulatory work, AI validation, and field testing needed to bring an advanced autonomous drone security platform into real construction environments. That support meant a great deal to our team as we moved from development to commercial launch.”

Skyguard was developed in Ontario as an enterprise autonomous drone security solution, with an initial focus on the construction industry. Following its launch, MOSTAVIO’s plans for the platform include expanding its AI capabilities beyond security, with custom computer vision detections for safety, operational monitoring, and site intelligence.

Skyguard is now available

Skyguard has commercially launched, and MOSTAVIO-SkyTech is now working with construction companies interested in deploying autonomous aerial security across their sites.

Construction operators, general contractors, and security teams can contact MOSTAVIO-SkyTech to arrange a Skyguard demonstration or discuss deployment opportunities.
