TORONTO, ON, October 6, 2026. MOSTAVIO, an Ontario-based aerospace technology company focused on eVTOLs, announced its collaboration with Lambton College and Evergreen, which advanced the AI development and real-world field validation of Skyguard, its autonomous drone security platform for construction sites. The project was supported through the Technology Access Program (TAP) under Ontario’s Critical Industrial Technologies (CIT) initiative, offered by the Government of Ontario and powered by the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).
The CIT Technology Access Program (TAP) is delivered in collaboration with Lambton College and Evergreen Brick Works as CIT Technology Development Sites (Dev Sites). Through CIT, SMEs can access cutting-edge facilities, enabling them to test and validate their products and services in facilities that mimic real-world industrial environments. Expert technical leadership can source validation and feedback in real time, supporting Ontario companies in the accelerated development and integration of critical technology products.
“Mostavio’s work with Lambton College and Evergreen demonstrates how these collaborations can support the development and validation of emerging technologies here in Ontario,” said Claudia Krywiak, President and CEO, Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI).
From AI computer vision validation to real-world field testing
Through the program, MOSTAVIO leveraged the capabilities and AI expertise available through Lambton College’s CIT Technology Development Site to support the research and optimization of Skyguard’s AI computer vision models.
At the centre of the platform is its ability to interpret what its cameras are seeing in real time. Skyguard uses computer vision to identify and track people, vehicles, equipment, and other predefined objects or events relevant to construction site security and operations.
“Through OCI’s Technology Access Program, Lambton College helped us evaluate different computer vision approaches for detecting and tracking people across a range of environments,” said Jonathan Spraggett, Robotics Engineer at MOSTAVIO. “They also helped us optimize the models to perform effectively with limited onboard computing resources.”
Taking autonomous drone technology into the field
AI performance in a development environment is only one part of building a commercially deployable autonomous system.
Construction environments introduce changing layouts, equipment, structures, people, lighting conditions, weather, and other variables that are difficult to fully reproduce under controlled testing.
At Evergreen Brick Works, another CIT Dev Site, MOSTAVIO field-tested Skyguard in a real-world environment, allowing the team to assess how the complete autonomous drone platform performs outside of controlled development conditions.
This progression, from AI training and computer vision validation at Lambton College to real-world autonomous drone field testing at Evergreen, gave MOSTAVIO clear confirmation that the system was ready for commercialization, ahead of Skyguard’s commercial launch.
Supporting Ontario’s critical technology ecosystem
Through the CIT Technology Access Program and its network of Technology Development Sites, Ontario companies can access specialized infrastructure, technical expertise, and testing environments that help accelerate the development, validation, and commercialization of critical technology solutions.
“The strength of CIT is its ability to bring together innovators, academic expertise and real-world industry environments to solve practical challenges,” said Raed Kadri, Vice President, Strategic Programs, Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI). “Mostavio’s work with Lambton College and Evergreen demonstrates that model in action, moving from AI and computer vision development to field validation, and generating the insights needed to advance an Ontario-developed technology toward commercialization.”
For MOSTAVIO, access to Lambton College and Evergreen provided two complementary development and testing environments.
At Lambton College, the work focused on the AI and computer vision capabilities that enable Skyguard to interpret activity within its environment.
At Evergreen Brick Works, the focus shifted to evaluating how the complete autonomous drone security platform performed under real-world conditions.
Together, the work gave MOSTAVIO the technical and operational insights needed to bring Skyguard to commercial launch for the construction industry.
Skyguard deployment opportunities
Skyguard is now commercially available and in active deployment discussions with construction firms, general contractors, and security providers seeking a more automated approach to site surveillance.
MOSTAVIO-SkyTech is currently offering demonstrations for organizations interested in evaluating Skyguard for their construction and infrastructure projects.
